brief.

Develop a consistent creative platform across the entire LexisNexis catalogue that instantly identifies a LexisNexis publication from competitors, but allows enough flexibility for continued shelf appeal and differentiation between categories.

Overall the LexisNexis books needed to have a more stylised, polished finish, eliminating the hit and miss approach resulting from a large pool of designers.

solution.

Creating a consistent visual language across categories is an important part of the LexisNexis brand framework and needed to be achievable without compromising the individuality of the covers.

LexisNexis brand recognition was strengthened with a consistent spine design and use of white space on the cover to create a consistent feel and point of difference from competitors. Prominent and rigid logo placement and sizing was also introduced.

Within each category a key image style was allocated as a focal element to achieve category definition ranging from full bleed semi abstract images to deep etched images, computer generated concept driven imagery, abstract paintings, typographic patterns and more.

A range of supporting graphic elements to display imagery, authors, title and category indicator were created that can be re-arranged and reinterpreted to create individual designs within a category, while the use of the same core ingredients ensure LexisNexis recognition.

The overall creative platform included a template for each category, with detailed usage guidelines, ensuring less subjective interpretation by designers.

This project resulted in:
